Mr Smith

One day before we enter 2007. A year where I have to produce a lot according to my supervisor. But that's life when you are a PhD student:)

This week I had to work, when there is a couple of deadlines ahead of me. One is 1 January 2007. Unfortunately I got sick on Thursday and felt like Mr Smith in Matrix, i.e. a rather unpleasant character ;(

But now I am back on track and ready for new surprises.

Happy new year

Much to do

Today I was early at work for the finaly day before christmas. I am in the middle of a bunch of deadlines for some three research papers and two examination for PhD courses. Puuuh, the proverb "Tough ain't enough" has some value at the moment.

On the other hand I can enjoy thinking about the luck that we didn't book our yearly Val D'Isere trip early as we use to do. Because there are no snow in the Alps:)

I do not want to transform my new wonderful Big Daddy into some rock skis after one week.

Soo long, and Merry Christmas

In the module

As a PhD student you are almost stuck in the "module" the university calls workroom, but I call it the "module". In the module I spend hours of reading, writing and thinking. Sometimes I wonder what went wrong? A couple of years ago, did I spend my days on the shooting range, training, or even in some helicopter preparing for CQB training or a mission. And whooops Four years later --> A module...

But the life in the module is ok. Though do I want to test my new Atomic BIG DADDY big mountain skies in some steep colouir in france as soon as possible.

Hmmm. It is not possible at the moment, first I have to write a poster, finish two papers and read some more.

Have a nice weekend:)

Beside that have my bidnings for the new Atomic Big Daddy arrived. A pair of bindings with skistopper that fit the waist of 125mm on Big Daddy:)

Puuh

After more than one year of work, me and Lena-Maria Öbergs article "What are the characteristics of records" have been published in The International Journal of Public Information Systems (IJPIS) www.ijpis.net

The article is found here: http://www.ijpis.net/issues/no1_2006/IJPIS_no1_2006_p4.pdf

Without the support from Dr. Karen Anderson from Edith Cowan University this article would never have been finished. It was the first article we wrote, and we entered a recordkeeping minefield when we too easily adopted some parts of

After have been on a ski holiday in Val D’Isere in the Alps, I am back in front of my computer working. When I opened my mailbox I had a happy surprise, acceptance for the conference Archiving 2006 in Ottawa, CA. This is the first Archival conference I have been accepted to, and therefore I am really happy. The presentation will be an Interactive Presentation with a poster, but the article will be published in the conference proceedings. The acceptance also makes my journey towards my Licentiate degree less stressful.

My friend Jonas Landgren in the public safety research group at Viktoria Institute has been nominated for the CHI 2006 Best Paper Award. Only five percent of this year´s research submissions received such a nomination. The paper title is “Making Action Visible in Time-Critical Work”.

Jonas can be found at http://www.viktoria.se/~landgren/
