Information in archives and in recordkeeping systems are going to be preserved for long time. Implicit does this result in a future use and future user that are unknown when the recordkeeping system or archivalmanagement system is designed.
In traditional information system design methods and techniques the users are those that through their needs form the system requirements. But how is this possible when the user is unknown?
This is the challenge I am struggling with at the moment. Design for the unknown and to satisfy an unknown users expectations and needs.
Present are we working on a theoretical method for combining techniques for strategic decision making together with some interaction design techniques. The research is this far very "drafty" but who knows..... Maybe it will result in some conference contribution?
But it is challenging
